Honky Tonk Girl

I’m just a honky tonk girl
Setting off to see the world.
Striking off on my own,
Don’t even need a home.
I got off that bus and looked around
At the place called Music Town,
With my guitar and dreams.
I’m just a honky tonk girl
Setting off to see the world.
I had my hopes, my dreams,
They lay unfulfilled, for a honky tonk girl,
In the music world.
The days turned into years.
I played. I sang,
I poured my heart and soul
Into the honky tonk world.
One day the girl woke up to see,
A woman, staring back at me.
The honky tonk girl,
Now, she’s lost in that music world.
No more honky tonk girl,
Just a woman in her place,
All that’s left of that honky tonk girl
Is a memory with a woman’s face.
I’m forever the honky tonk girl,
Setting off to see that music world.
